Errors after CCS self-update

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Dear TI,

Today, I started CCS, and it reported that an update was available. I allowed CCS to update itself (there was no zipped installer involved). The update process did not go well. Error after error was reported, with messages such as: Eclipsec: "An error has occurred. See the log file C:\ti\ccsv5\eclipse\configuration\1338327533119.log." I did a force-quit after around 26 such messages, with many megabytes of log files having been generated. I can no longer start CCS. The system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and the language is English. Your assistance in troubleshooting this is appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,

Dean

  • Hi,

In my CCS5 i can not update the system due to this error:

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed session context was:(profile=epp.package.cpp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=). No repository found containing: org.eclipse.update.feature,com.ti.ccstudio.installer.win32,5.2.0.00069 No repository found containing: binary,com.ti.ccstudio.installer.win32_root,5.2.0.00069

OS: Windows 7 64Bit, are those errors related?

    thank you

  • Dean,

Could you zip up and post the contents of this folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallJammer Registry\ccsv5\60556FE5-C1A1-4061-8DF8-FFB8393BAE2D" ?

My suspicion is that the Eclipse p2 metadata (Eclipse's provisioning component is called "p2") was corrupted during a previous update. Do you recall if you have applied other updates to this installation of CCS?

A short term fix while I look at the log data would be for you to download the full version of 5.2.0 and install it into a different folder.

  • Alessandro,

I assume the messages you see were observed the list of available updates was displayed? These messages look like Eclipse had problems downloading data from the repository that contains the CCS update.  I'd suggest updating using a local copy of the repository to avoid any connectivity issues.

This can be done by downloading the full install package and unzipping it into a folder. Then, in CCS, go to menu Window -> Preferences, type "update" in the filter box, select "Available Software sites". In this dialog, click "Add", click "Local", and browse to the folder where you unzipped the CCS install. In the name exit box, give the entry a name like "CCS Local Update Site". Click OK to exit the dialog.

Now, go to Help -> Install New software.  In this dialog, select the site you just added in the "Work With" drop down box.  Uncheck the "Group items by category" option in the lower part of the dialog. You should see two items displayed now: The CCSv5 5.2.0.00069 service release and a REQUIRED update installation tool.  Select both, accept the license, and let it proceed.

  • AndyW - FYI - I ran into this error as well.  I was able to correct using your instructions.  Thanks a ton!

  • Andy,

I can find no such directory in C:\Program Files (x86), or anywhere else on the disk. It occurs to me that, during the update that went bad, a Java update message popped up. I wonder if a Java update at an inopportune time might have caused the failed CCS update, i.e., dueling updaters.

Other updates have indeed been applied to this CCS installation.

    Regards,

    Dean

  • Dean,

I should have mentioned that the "InstallJammer Registry" folder is usually hidden, so you may need to change the folder properties in Windows explorer to show hidden folders.

The Java update shouldn't cause a problem as CCS normally includes its own JVM.

  • Andy,

Yes, the directory was indeed hidden. I now have the requested zip file. As it contains some files with slightly private data (e.g., user account name), it would be preferable to send it to you without posting it. If you could contact me directly, I'd appreciate it.

    Best regards,

    Dean
