Hi ,

I am trying to develop software on MSP430G2553 . I have installed CCS and the FET drivers as directed in the manuals. When I connect the device to the USB port of Win 7 machine , it does not show the VCOM Port. I checked the registry. It has the entries for VID 451 and PID F432 ( this is for the Launchpad ) .

I connected the device to another WIn7 machine. It dint show up as VCOM port there either. Please help. Is this fixable or I have to procure new boards ?

Right now I am trying on Linux.

Hi Rajeswaran,

is this a launchpad? The launchpad is not supported under Linux at this current time.

How have you set up your conection? What do you see in CCS? Do you get an error? What error? Can you debug? Could you please provide more details? What CCS version? Do you have antivirus disabled?

This is MSP430 LAunchpad (MSP-EXP430G2)

What do you see in CCS? Do you get an error?

The CCS gives the following error:

MSP430: Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found

(I believe the system is unable to find the device at all in the first place )

Can you debug?

( I cannot proceed with debugging as device is not found , I guess )

What CCS version?

CCSv5.1.1

Do you have antivirus disabled?

No. I am on Qcom corporate backbone . So cannot disable it in company premises.

How have you set up your conection?

The MSP430 board is connected to the Win7 machine via a TI supplied USB cable

Hi Lisa,

We have upgraded to CCSv5.2 . The problem was USBFET was corrupted on these boards for some reason. We are currently working with new boards and follow exact same steps as in TI tutorials and they seem to be fine. Thank you for all the help.
