  • Hi Jon,

    could you please check

    - are you using the full installer?  Did you unzip first?

    - did you turn off any antivirus programs?

    - did you redownload in case of corruption?

    - where all directories used free of accented/special characters and spaces?

    - do you have full admin privileges?

If one was created, could you send the contents of your installjammer registry directory (under program files or program files(x86))

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

yes full installer and unzipped to desktop
same result with and without mse running
    downloaded twice
    special charter free
tried under my userid with admin privileges and "run as administrator"; neither works
    log file attached.

  • Hi Jon,

Can you please zip up the logs in the installjammer registry/ccsv5 directory and attach them? Also, there are some eclipse logs in <ccsdir>/eclpse/configuration which will be helpful to us.

    Thanks,

    Danish Innis

  • Hi,

The only file in the installjammer registry/ccsv5 is the log file that i already posted.

The only .../eclipse/confirguration folder that i could find was in the temp folder. so i zipped that up for you.

    jon

  • Jon,

Can you send me the zip file at d-innis@ti.com? I can't seem to find the attachment.

    thanks

    Danish Innis

  • Hi Jon,

just wanted to see whether there is any update here or whether you are able to send the requested files.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • There weren't any eclipse logs in the configuration folder, Lisa.

  • Hi Jon,

if you still require assistance here, would you please send the appropriate logs?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Lisa,

So kind of you to write back; yes I need assistance. I have not be able to install CCS since my first post of June 3rd.

I am sorry to say there are no log files that I could find in any folder on the system related to this install attempt.

    Jon

  • Hi Jon,

would you be able to double check the checksum on your downloaded zip file for the installer?  One of our only thoughts is potentially a corrupted file/download.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Lisa,

Here are the checksums from my zip file:

    md5: bb4a426b45f949678d884a79de6b8260
    sha1: 58d09c74287d5f97df133456540b7ad295e344fb

I could not find these checksums online to compare against however.

  • Hi,

I know what part of the problem is (or maybe it's the entire problem - not sure). My system is two drives: c: is an ssd and d: is a hard drive.

C:\users is a junction point to d:\users (as c:\ProgramData is a junction point to d:\programdata).

So that means that my desktop, where I put the unzipped install file into folder ccs, is actually on the d drive.

Apparently the install process has some dependency on not seeing junctions. How do I know, well I moved the ccs folder from my desktop to the c drive; so it's at c:\ccs.

Low and behold the install actually starts. I answer all of the gui prompts and it appears to start building folders and copying files. c:\ti\ccsv5\doc, c:\ti\ccsv5\eclipse, and c:\ti\ccsv5\utils get built. I don't know how far it got in populating those folders when -- yes, it app crashed again!

If I had to guess, and that is all it is, the install got to the point where it needed to access or write to c:\users or c:\programdata and choked on a junction one more time.

Until now, I have not encountered any other install or software that could not handle junctions; and I have hundreds of applications installed on this system.

There is no way that I can change the system structure at this point. I can only hope that someone at ti can figure out why the ccs install process doesn't like junctions.

    Jon

  • Hi Jon,

could you please send the contents of your installjammer registry directroy?  (under program files or program files(x86)).    In the mean time I will try to gather a couple colleages.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Jon,

I can confirm the problem is with the juctions unfortunately and this is something we are looking to fix going forward.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

Well I am glad that we figured out what the problem was.
I hope that fixing this problem is definitely on the short-list for CCS maintenance.

For now, I will try and install on my laptop. But I am really setup to use CCS on my desktop, so in the long run, I really need it to work there. And that means CCS has to handle junctions.

    Sincerely,

    Jon

  • Hi Jon,

yes, at least we know what the issue is although I can not say when a fix will be coming.  My impression is not likely in CCSv5.

All the best with development and sorry for any inconvenience.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Here is my latest update in this saga just in case it helps someone else...

I cleaned up the failed ccsv5 install and tried installing ccsv5 on the same drive as the "users" folder; in my case d:\users.

I am not sure why, but this works successfully -:)

  • Hi Jon,

I am among those "someone else" you wrote and thank you for that clue.

More or less reliable installation ccv v5 for windows 7 x64 is to start through CMD with TEMP and TMP environment variables in the session to be set in prior to directory just on the same disk where installation will be. For sure all staff with characters and short directory names is a must. After that installation process goes smooth up the end.

I have strong belief that TI maintenance will work out some recommendations or even simple *.cmd file for those "someone else".

    Sincerely,

    Vyacheslav

  • Lisa,

I hate to open up an old thread, but I was hoping someone could verify that I am having the same problem.  I have attached the contents of the InstalJammer Registry directory.  I have tried all of the suggested fixes in the thread to no avail.  It consistently fails after successfully unzipping eclipserepo.zip.  Is there an alternate install, or steps I can take to complete the install?

    ccsv5.zip
  • Hi Gregg,

it is always best to post new queries like this as a new post.

Are you using junctions?  What unzip tool/antivirus do you use/have?  From your logs it looks like the eclipse extraction stopped at 2%.

Have you tried since fresh to a different directory?

    Best Regards,

    LIsa

  • I am using junctions; the methods provided here did not seem to resolve the problem.  I am using bitzipper and Microsoft Security Essentials.  I have tried directories on various drives.  However, nevermind. Since I am using Win7-64 Ultimate, I simply installed under Virtual PC last night and that worked.

  • Hi Gregg,

ok, glad to hear you managed to finda setup that agrees with ccs.  All the best with development.

    Best regards,

    Lisa

  • Thanks Vyacheslav - your solution worked also for me. I have to say I'm kind of surprised that the use of filesystem level junctions crashes the installer.

    Regards,

    Jakub
