Problems using the floating license from computers other than the one the license server in installed on.

I bought a floating license for CCS 5.1

I’ve installed the Flexnet license server on my computer and imported the license file I received from TI.

Now when I run the CCS on the same computer on which the license server is running everything works as expected: The CCS reports it is Licensed and in the FlexNet License Administrator Dashboard I see that one CCS_DEBUGGER license is in use.

The problem is that I can’t get it to work with CCS 5 that is installed on another computer.

I configured the License Server Manager to use port 27000, and the Vendor deamon(tidspssw) to work on port 27001.

In the CCS on the computer I configured the License server to connect to port 27000 on the computer where the license server is running.

When I run a network monitor and open CCS on the remote computer I see that the remote computer connects to the license server manager on port 27000 and the connects to tidspssw.exe on port 27001,

So I’m pretty sure that the problem is NOT with the communication…

I’d appreciate it if somebody could help me with this problem..

Thanks,

Nadav

  • I thought the issue might be the problem described in http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/176472.aspx

    but it isn't.

I've installed CCS 5.1 on a new computer and set it to get the license from the license server and it still shows as unlicensed.

  • Ignore the previous post.

It looks like my CCS installations can get the licenses from the License Server

The reason my new installation did not get a license was that I forgot to close the CCS on my primary work computer :)

And it looks like my second installation does exhibit  the 'Always in eval' [stupid] behavior.

(I would at least expect this behaivour to be mentioned in the installation instructions, since I'm sure that a lot of users install a license after testing it using an evaluation license...)

So it seems like everything works...
