Can't upgrade CCS5.1 to CCS5.2

I tried to update my CCS5.1 using the Help->Check for updates. The 5.2 update was found and looked like it downloaded. When I went to install it, I got a number of errors right at the beginning. Now when I go back to check for updates to try to reinstall the 5.2, my 5.1 says there's none found.

How can I update now?

Hi Bob,

Can you please send me log files from c:\program files\installjammer registry\? Please zip the folder and attach it here. I'll take a look and let you know how to proceed.

Also, what windows version are you using? What version of ccs 5.1 did you have installed?

Bob,

It looks like eclipse wrote some error logs in your installation's eclipse/configuration folder. You should see them in c:\program files\texas instruments\ccsv5\ccsv5\eclipse\configuration. Could you zip up the *.log files and attach them?

Hi Bob,

I've been trying to reproduce the issue here, but haven't been able to. It looks like the patch that was required prior to updating CCS was not applied, though I can't understand how that's possible, as there's a dependency. If you're open to running a few commands, looking for some files, that would help me debug the problem.

The plugins installed by the patch are:

ccsv5/plugins/com.ti.ccstudio.p2.actions_5.2.0.201204111758.jar

ccsv5/plugins/com.ti.ccstudio.startupInstaller_5.2.0.201204111758.jar

Hi Bob,

Unfortunately, it looks like the eclipse metadata is corrupted on your update. Could you try updating from

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv5/52Fix ? Restart eclipse. Add this url to your update sites and check for updates. This may fix the metadata.

I found a link to the 5.2 installer and downloaded it. It just installed without incident and I used my existing license file. It appears to be working. Just an FYI for future issues like this, just point people to the Wiki to download the installer instead of trying to solve this problem with the CCS5 update function. (If only I had known this earlier, it would have save both of us a lot of time:)
