Component Manager CCS V3.3 crash

Hello,

I have an urgent problem as my CCS V3.3 Component Manager crashes (Please see picture below).
I need to change Code Generation Tools to build an old project and therefore I need to start the Component Manager.
Any idea how to fix the problem? Anything I can check in the registry? Any other solution to switch between Code Generation Tools versions?

Thanks.

Best regards
Patrick

I don't have a good answer of why Component manager is crashing but you can try changing the compiler version by editing the registry directory. The below FAQ explains how to do this:

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Ki

Thanks. Switching of CGT's with registry works as far as I could check.
Back to the Component Manager crash:
If I start the Component Manager (comp_mgr.exe) from Windows Explorer it will start without any problems. Unfortunately I'm not able to switch the CGT's. It looks as it is kind of write protected (just view). Do you know how CCS V3.3 calls the Component Manager? Any command line parameters?

Just as I was writing this I found out that "comp_mgr.exe -r" from command window will start Component Manager able to change CGT's!

Still the question is how CCS V3.3 starts Component Manager?

    Thanks.

Normally you just need to call the exe without any parameters and you should be able to enable/disable components. The -r option will cause a force refresh on start. You normally do not need to do this. This tells me that there is some other issue involved and you may have found a workaround.

CCS would call it without any additional parameters. But perhaps the force refresh you did from the command line will help resolve the original problem. Did you try it from CCS again?

    Thanks

  • Ki,

I have tried to start Component Manager from CCS after calling it with the "-r" option from command line. It still crashed. Then today I got the notification from your last reply on this topic. So I have tried again from CCS and surprise, surprise: It works again!

So I recommend everybody who has the same kind of problem to start Component Manager with option "-r" from command line and maybe restart the PC and try again.

    Ki, thanks for the answers.

    Best regards,

    Patrick
