CCS 3.3 on Windows 7 XP Mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Does anyone every run Code Composer Studio 3.3 on XP mode of Win 7? I've tried both 32-bit and 64-bit Win 7 machines but got the same error message when start CCStudio 3.3. Here is the error message I got.

After I click OK button, the program just ended. I've checked that folder, there is no F2803x.xml. My other installation on VMware environment works just fine. The reason I want to transfer it to XP mode is that I found my XP on VMware runs quite slow, but it runs faster in XP mode. Does anyone have idea what's going on with this error message?

Thank you for your help.

  • Oliver,

CCSv3.3 is not officially supported on Windows 7.  (it is recommended for Windows 7 users to use the more up-to-date CCS4 or CCS5)

    See the following post:

    Thank you,

  • Thanks Brett.

Checked the link you provided. I actually didn't encounter any problem on the installation process. I also have an installation under VMware that runs just fine. The problem I have here is that I can't get it to work in XP mode under Microsoft Virtual PC environment. I've searched the forum and it seems many people are running CSSv3.3 in XP mode without the issue I have.

Thanks again for your reply though.

  • Oliver,

I am moving your post to the Code Composer forum.  Perhaps they have something to add.

    Thank you,

Are you running in XP compatibility mode in WIN 7 or are you running the XP VM that comes with WIN7?

Are there any files in that folder? You may have a bad install or something.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Ki,

I'm running CCS on Microsoft Virtual PC environment which comes with Win 7, not XP compatibility mode. I actually have another installation running on XP under VMware, and it runs fine, just a little bit slow. This is why I want to try it in XP mode provide by Win 7.

In that folder, there are some other .xml files, but there isn't the file specified by the error message. Since my other installation (under VMware) works in the same Win 7 machine, I also checked that folder. There is no such file either. I also tried another Win 7 machine with XP Mode. The result was no difference.

I've also had problems with the XP mode VM in Windows 7. I use VMware in favor of it. I find VMware performance to be pretty good, actually better than the XP mode for me.

What version of v3.3 are you using for both machines? piccolo support was added in a service release after the 3.3 release. I believe the latest version of 3.3 is 3.3.82.13.

    Thanks

  • Problem solved.

The problem is at "Setup CCStudio v3.3".

When creating a board, it looks like the this.

Delete all devices manually and just add the device back. It then looks like this.

The problem has nothing to do with XP under MS VirtualPC or VMWare environment.

    Thanks for everyone's help.
