C6701 Target configuration File

Hello, I am currently have CCSv5 and I am looking to target and program the C6701 processor. In order to target the processor I believe that I need to select the correct Board in the "target configuration file" .ccxml file. I do not see a 6701 device as an option. How do I add the 6701 as an option? Do I download a support file from somewhere? I see the C6713 as an option, but no 6701. Thanks mike

Michael,

What is the version of CCv5 you are using and what is the emulator that you wish to use with the driver ?

If you are new to the new eclipse based CCS environment, you should refer to the following wiki to understand the creation of the target configuration file.

In my CCSv5 installation, I do see the option of connecting to C6701 using Spectrum digital XDS510USB emulator as well as XDS560v2 but the name shows up as TMS320C6701.

My installation is CCSv5.2.0.00069. When I looked in Target Configurations at the TI Simulators and typed C67 in the filter box, it found a generic C67xx simulator that can be used but not a device specific one for the C6701.

But when I chose an older emulator, the Spectrum Digital XDS510USB Emulator, still with the C67 in the filter, it found the TMS320C6701 very easily:

What do you think would be different in your case?
Which emulator are you using?
Which exact version of CCS are you using, from Help->About?

Okay I switched from CCS5.0 to 5.2 and now I see the TMS320C6701. However the part I am using is the SM320C6701GLPW14. I see in the documentation there are a lot of similarities, however the clock speeds are different. Can I select the TMS320C6701 and still work with my hardware the way I want or will there be an issue? oh and I have the Spectrum Digital XDS510USB emulator for this effort. thanks Mike

I would imagine that it is fine. Differing clock speeds should not have an impact.

Mike,

If the clock speeds are different. You should ensure that the GEL file you are using corresponds to that part.

Look at the PLL settings if you are not sure.
