Concerto missing in targetConfig CCSV4

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hi all,

I am trying to use my concerto conctrolCard with CCSV4. I have CCSV 4.2.4.00033 running on my machine. CGT C2000 v6.1.0 as well as CGT TMS470 v5.0.0 are installed. Unfortunately, when I try to create a new targetConfig, a ConcertoDevice is not listed. I tried now everything I found in the forums, wikipages, controlSUITE help etc. with no success.

a short list what I tried so far

  • created a new workspace
  • deleted all targetCache files in the user application data as well as in the CCS environment
  • updated ccs and cgt to the current versions
  • update controlSUITE to the latest version

What more should I do? Desperatly hoping anyone can help me with this.

  • Hi Andreas,

Have you tried updating to 4.1.5?  Do you have ControlStick in the target config drop down?  Which exact kit do you have, support should be there for you.  A few further details would help.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

If possible I like to avoid updating to 4.2.5 since we have other CCS installations all running on 4.2.4. ControlStick is available in the dropdown, but not the concertoControlCard (your part number TMDXCNCDH52C1) nor any other Concerto device. Tell me what you need to know further, I am willing to share any information in order to make this setup running.

  • Hi Andreas,

you should be able to use the normal device, eg 28035 as your selection.  You should not need a specific "control card" entry.  Please give that a try and keep us informed.  In fact that is what many of us here do.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I know that I don't have to choose the specific controlCARD entry - but I MUST choose the correct processor. Again I don't have the any concerto device listed under devices in the target setup dialog. I doubt that the concerto core likes to be debugged as a piccolo or anything else and if this works at your end then please tell me step by step how your are doing this.

What I need is the concerto listed in the available devices - or a workaround to be able to connect to the target

  • Hi Adreas,

what concerto/C2000 proecessor/device are you using?  This is what you should select ....

  • Andreas,

I suspect that somehow you are missing either the Concerto device XML files or one of the driver XML spec files. Can you check if the directories and files shown in the attached screen exist?

You can also inspect the directory <CCS_INSTALL_DIR>/ccsv4/emulation and see if the actual device drivers are present. For XDS100/XDS510 they are named tixds510<name_of_the_core>.dvr. The name_of_the_core are the same suffixes as shown in the driver XML spec files.

The absence of these files indicate that either they became corrupt (HDD failure, etc.), an unexpected problem happened during the CCS install, or maybe an update failed to properly add all the necessary files (obviously if you did the online update from previous releases).

Therefore you may have a few options; if a single file is missing I can surely send it to you. If multiple files are missing, I think you should play safe and reinstall CCSv4, as it is possible other things became corrupt during install.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hi Rafael,

Not the answer that I was looking for but at least an answer. To me it seem to be a bit poor, that a re-installation is necessary after an online update that went wrong. However I was NEVER notified, that something was wrong during an update..... If you are already aware, that online updates go wrong sometimes, then why are you still providing these?
