CCSv5 installation problems

After running into several problems, I have removed CCSv5 and downloaded the latest release.

When I execute ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018.exe I get several anonymous failures ('Installation failed', I think - the log disappears after installing) with no indication as to what as failed,  but the installation runs on to completion.

When I start the nerly-loaded CCS, it looks like it is starting a generic Eclipse release with no indication that CCS is involved.

Help/About gives a typical Eclipse popup, again with no sign of CCS.

What is going on!

  • Hi Peter,

we unfortunately need some further information.  Also, could you please send us the contents of your installjammer registry directory (found under program files or program files(x86)).  What OS do you use?

    Some things to check

    - did you redownload in case of corruption

    - did you turn off antivirus

    - did you unzip the installer first

    - did you use only directories with no spaces, accented or special characters

    - did you have full permissions and avoid the program files directory

    - did you fully remove the previous installation?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Also, could you please send us the contents of your installjammer registry directory (found under program files or program files(x86)).

I assume you don't want all 46MB of it!

The file ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018_install.log is 1.5MB - if that is what you need, how do I attach it?

What OS do you use? XP SP3

    Some things to check

    - did you redownload in case of corruption: yes

    - did you turn off antivirus: yes

    - did you unzip the installer first: yes

    - did you use only directories with no spaces, accented or special characters: yes ("c:\ti")

    - did you have full permissions and avoid the program files directory: yes

    - did you fully remove the previous installation? yes

  • Hi Peter,

if you could zip and send the ccsv5 folder that is in the installjammer registry directory that would be a good debugging start for us.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • I have tried removing CCSv5 and reinstalling - with the same effect as before.

Here is the zipped file you requested.

    7585.ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018_install.log.zip

  • Hi Peter,

I'm sorry you're having a problem with the installation, but it's an easy fix.

For some reason the unzip utility you have on your machine isn't working with the installer. Could you please copy the unzip utility found in C:/ti/ccsv5/utils/bin to another temporary directory, add that directory to your path (in the front, so as not to pick up the machine's current unzip utility), remove the ccsv5 installation and try the install again?

The next release of CCS has been fixed to pick up the ccs version of unzip instead of one on the user's machine.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • HI Peter,

just thought I would check whether there are any updates to your enquiry here and Danishs helpful work around helped.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • The suggestion of adding the unzip program resolved the problem.

Sorry I didn't post, but I have been stuck trying to get some practical responses to other questions about the C6678.
