Grace new CSS project

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

I followed all the instructions online, still when I get to create a new CSS project I cannot see the Grace examples or templates.

Running CCS 5.2, installed MSP430ware separately, running on win7.

  • Hi Marco,

you access the Grace examples through the Resource Explorer.  Help->Welcome to CCS will open it for you.  The Grace examples do not come up in the new project wizard that I am aware of.

Hope this helps clarify.  Please give that a try and keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Strange. The installed components seem to be there and the selection in the dialog is correct.

The only thing I noticed is that you are using a vmware network directory. Where is CCS installed? It is a known issue that CCS is very picky when it comes to directories. Therefore we do strongly recommend to install it in the C:\TI folder, along with all its needed components.

My recommendation for you is to download CCSv5.2.1 and install this version under C:\TI.

    Regards,
    Michael

  • CCS 5.2 is installed on Win7 running inside a VMWare fusion box.

The TI Explorer doesn't seem to work ok, there may be some issues with paths, but everything is installed in the virtual C:\TI directory...

  • What do you mean by "virtual C:\ti directory"? If you installed CCS in a virtual machine, the guest system should not notice anything different from a "normal" installation, right?

What path issues do you mean? Did you change anything from the default Windows setting?

Did you try and reinstall CCS?

    Regards,
    Michael

  • Correct. Still the C: drive is virtual, is not the root of the main hard drive. But yes, shouldn't make any difference to Win7.

I did not make any changes from the default Windows setting.

I've reinstalled CCS 3 times so far, after unistalling it every time.

The TI explore does not look like it should, I cannot explore examples or anything else.

  • Marco,

do you see issues with the help?  I am wondering if there is a proxy issue here or permissions.  What do you see if you try Project->CCS Example Projects?

Could you possible send the contents of your installjammer registry directory?  (found under program files or program files(x86))

    Best Regards,

    LIsa

  • Help system seems to be working fine.

Project->CCS Example Projects doesn't do anything (nothing happens when I click on that)

Again, the TI Resource explorer is not loading properly (see pics I posted previously)

There is no installjammer registry directory to be found under Program Files (both of them)

I had the feeling something didn't work with the installation, and that's why I repeated it, but same result. It's probably some interaction between vmware and Win7.

  • Hi Marco,

let me confirm but I think the problem might be CCS can't handle virtual folders/paths.   I run CCS successfully within a VM, however my understanding is that virtual drives are not supported.

As soon as I have feedback I will let you know.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Marco,

eclipse/ccs does indeed seem to not like handling virtual/soft linked folders.  Is there any chance you can try a non virtual folder and verify?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

thank you. I'm not expert on Win7, but as far as I understand it CCS is installed on C:\TI.

Not sure how i can try a non virtual folder...

    This is the directory structure:

  • Hi Marco,

I think the next step here is to verify whether you are using virtual/soft linked folders or not.  This might make the difference.  Please let us know.
