TMS320C6713DSK & CCS V5.2 - license

I just bought a TMS320C6713DSK. I have CCS V5.2 installed on my Windows System 7 machine for MSP430 development. I installed the CCS V3 that comes on the DSK disk. From what I see on ti's website, there are issues about the drivers and System 7. Issues which I certainly have. So I imported one of the examples that came with the V3 into a V5.2 workspace. Now, no surprise, CCS v5 is complaining that I don't have a license for the C6000's. I have been using the free version for MSP430 design.

Is there a license that comes with the DSK? I looked in the V3 installation for a license file, but didn't find one. I wouldn't expect a license file for V3 to work with V5 anyway. What do I do?

Kent,

Per your description you are using the code size limited license for MSP430, which does not support other targets (thus the error).

In this case I think you will need a separate install of CCSv5.2 and configure it to use the Bundle license (free limited license), which will work with your C6000 DSK (and XDS100 and all development boards).

If you are not using MSP430 anymore, it is possible to change the license through the menu Help --> Code Composer Studio Licensing Information --> tab Upgrade --> button Launch License Setup. Thus you would avoid an additional installation.

Thank you for the answer. Is it possible to go back and forth between the licenses?

This means that my DSK that I bought has a life until the bundle license expires. Too bad.

You can switch back and forth between the 2 licenses. it is a pain but you can do it using the dialog Rafael mentioned. Also the bundle license doesn't expire, it is a permanent license (just limited by connection type).
