CCS 4.2.3 Watch Window Hanging for Real time mode operation

hi,

I am using aF28027 Piccollo Control Stick to control a Buck Converter.

I am using the digital power template.

I have a reference Value, which determines the output voltage required.

I am observing the ADC output (as i increase my input voltage) ,

and the controlled duty ratio output via the watch window- with real time mode (polite and continous refresh).

When the ADC output is less than the reference value, the watch window works fine.

But when the ADC output equals the reference value (feedback voltage reaches the setpoint desired value), the watch window freezes.

Although the piccollo continues working well by controlling the buck, the watch window variables freeze and dissapear after a minute or so.

Even if i rduce the ADC output below the reference, nothing happens.

What could be happening in CCS 4.2.3 ? Is there something that needs to be activated so that the watch window can display the variables at all times?

  • How are you increasing the input voltage? Are you doing different tests at different input voltages and find that after a certain threshold the watch window freezes, or is it being changed in real time? Does altering the refresh rate of the window make any difference?

I'm not aware of any specific issues related to this being fixed in later releases, but our latest CCS release is 5.2.1 which includes several bug fixes and improvements over CCSv4. If your schedule permits, you could try installing 5.2.1 and see if things are improved. It is ok to install CCSv5 and CCSv4 in the same computer as long as they are in different directories, so you can still keep your existing 4.2.3 installation while testing out CCS 5.2.1.

CCSv5 is available for download here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS
