Duration flashing Concerto

Hello,

I'm using the usb jtag xds100v2 for flashing and debugging processor Concerto.

Duration flashing C28 core is 40 s and M3 core is 85 s.

In total, I spend 2 minutes on flashing processor - this is long enough.

How can I reduce the flashing time for this jtag?

Or should I just change the jtag?

What JTAGs can I use for a Concerto processors and how much time is flashing for these JTAGs?

Hi Yuriy,

xds100 is a low performance emulator so moving to one of the high performance emulators (like XDS560v2) can make a difference.

The other thing to look at is your Flash programming options. If you are only programming a few sectors, you may want to make sure that the option to erase "necessary sectors only (for program load)" is enabled. By default, CCS will erase all of flash first and this can take some time.

Hard to say what exactly the speed gains would be. It would depend on your application. Did the selective flash sector erasing help?

When in a debug session, go to 'Tools -> On-Chip Flash' to open the On-Chip Flash view. In the view, scroll down until you see the 'Erase Settings'. The default is to erase everything everytime but you can change it to just erase the necessary sectors for program load.

Remember to press the 'Remember My Settings' button to preserve the option for future debug session launches.

No, It did not help, because most of the time takes Flash programming, not erasing.

xds560 cost $ 3000, I can not buy it. Is there itag is cheaper for Concerto processors?

xds560 is being deprecated in favor of the xds560v2. Not only is the 560v2 cheaper (~$1000), it is also better in performance. There is also an XDS200 coming soon which will be in the 300-500 range. The performance will fall in the middle.
