Question about Kit XDS510LC

Hi to all,

I have a question regarding the XDS510LC from Spectrum Digital (http://www.spectrumdigital.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=204&osCsid=ea1834150d7b6055de0cc6c0b00457ef).

1) Will I be enabled to upgrade to the lasted version of CCSV3.3 (3.3.XX.XX final revision)?

2) Someone have had problems with this Kit?

I need the CCSV3.3 because i use matlab with the C2000 MCU. Someone know if the lasted versión of CCS (CCSV5.X) work OK with Matlab (No bugs!!)

Gastón,

On the Spectrum Digital website they list that this product is supported on CCSv3.3. I have used them in the past with CCSv3.3. It is basically a stripped down version of their popular XDS510 USB. I did not have any issues with it.

The integration that The MathWorks provides for CCSv5 is different than CCSv3.3. They support code generation by generating makefiles that can be imported into CCS. As far as controlling debugging in CCS people have been using the DSS (Debug Server Scripting) interface that we provide via Matlab. There are a number of threads on the forums where people have been using this. I believe a couple have posted examples.

Forgot to mention that my need to upgrade to the latest revision of CCSV3.3 is to include all the new C2000 availables. Also I want to know in how many machine can be installed this CCS that came with the kit (guess depend in the license type).

If your copy of CCS came from a development kit like an EVM or DSK or eZdsp then you cannot upgrade it to the latest version of CCSv3.3. The free copy of CCS that came with the kit will be tied to that kit and will only work with the emulation that is built onto that board (you won't be able to use it with an XDS510 LC).

is upgradable to the latest revision or do I must download some file from the texas instrument page to upgrade it? ej: CCSV3.3.xx.xx.xx

Ok. I see now. It is a bundle that they are selling. You can upgrade that version. Once you install it you should be able to use the built in update advisor to update to the latest service release. If you have any issues with that let me know and I can send you a link to a download.

Thanks JohnS, my doubts were if that version of CCS include the latest releases of C2000 processors. If is upgradable I guess some of the newest C2000 processors as well new emulators will appear in the setup.

Well you can upgrade that version to the latest CCSv3.3 that is available. However the very latest C2000 devices are only supported in CCSv5 (we haven't touched CCSv3.3 in a few years). Which device are you interested in?
