c66x COFF format optimization with the new compiler

With the new code gen tools can we support c66x devices optimization with the COEF format? the other question why optimzation has anything to do with the COEF or ELF format? i thought it is an output format more than anything else? Any info on this would be great to get. Is there a compilar version that might support this???

The performance of the code generated in COFF and EABI (ELF) mode should be nearly identical. Where are you seeing that COFF is any better than EABI?

Just to make sure so we do support the C66x COEF format (little and Big Endien) and the optimize code is exactly the same..

Yes, C66x COFF is officially supported.

The COFF and EABI code aren't always exactly the same. There is some behavior difference, mostly for C++ features and global variable auto-initialization. In these cases, the generated assembly code will by necessity be different, and could therefore have different performance.

Before you adopt either EABI or COFF for your C6600 project, I advise you to check into whether any other software you plan to use (BIOS, DSPLIB, etc.) supports your choice. I'm pretty sure BIOS for C6600 only supports EABI, and not COFF.

Thanks all for the answers, my customer does not use BIOS they have their own scheduler. i was just trying to understand what we support on the compilar side which i got my answer that the optimization on the code for the C66x with the coef format is almost the same as the ELF format.
