F021 flash library compatibility

Hello,

Is the F021 flash library (built with 4.x compiler) compatible with applications built with the 5.0.1 TMS570 compiler tools?

    I don't know if that particular combination has been tested.  But, if any such incompatibility is found, I would view it as a bug in the compiler tools.

    Hi George,

    My concern was that from what I understand different compiler families are not guaranteed to be compatible with each other. I know for example that the DSP libraries specifically require 5.0.1.

    As for compatibility with a specific library, you need to consult the documentation for that library.  But, generally speaking, if the compiler version you are using is equal to or later than the compiler version used to build that library, you won't have any problems.  This wiki article on how to understand compiler version numbers includes some general compatibility information.

    Hi George,

    I have seen the Wiki page before which is why I asked the question. The F021 library was built with a version 4 compiler and we are evaluating the V5 compiler. The Wiki page states "Compatibility across versions with different X numbers is not assured". Hence my question.

    I will close this thread and mark the question as answered and reopen if I discover any specific issues.
