ezdsp 5535 emulation setup in CCS4

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a target configuration for the spectrum digital ezdsp 5535 usb kit. The kit came with a CD to install CCS v4.2.4.00033. I already have that version of CCS installed on my PC, so did not attempt to install from the disk. I can't find a target configuration for the ezdsp5535 under the XDS100v2 USB Emulator options. I updated CCS's Spectrum DIgital Emulation configuration to version 4.2.3.02, but the target still does not show up.

Is it possible to get the ezdsp5535 emulator drivers without installing CCS? I'm just not sure what will happen if I try to install CCS from the disk on top of a version I already have installed - will this impact my ability to access existing projects and/or existing workspaces?

Thanks,

Jim

  • Hi Jim,

in your current installation, can you create a C55xx project?  Ie do you have C5000 device support?   It is likely you simply need to do an update or else add the device xml files (likely on the cd) into your installation.   You can give that a try.

You could certainly install the cd version into a different directory.   We regularly have parallel versions here.

  • Lisa,

Yes, I can setup a C5500 project in CCS. I prefer not to install a second version of CCS4, especially since I already have the same version installed. It seems there must be a way to just install the components I need to generate the target content.

The install CD contains a "SpectrumDigital" folder and a "install_images" folder. Under install_images, there is an emulation\sd_targets folder that contains an install.bat file and a SetupEZDSP5535 application.

Should I run the SetupEZDSP5535 application? I clicked on it, and it prompts for a folder location to store the files. If I must run this application to install the 5535 emu drivers, what CCS4 folder should I specify to store the files?

The install CD also has a SpectrumDigital folder that has a subfolder called usbdriver, which contains 2 folders: amd64 and i386 folder. Each folder has a DPInst application in it. Is it necessary to run this application, and if so, which one (amd or i386)?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • Lisa,

I ran the sd_emupack_setup_4.2.2.9 application provided on the 5535 ezdsp install CD and can now create a ezdsp5535 target configuration under the existing CCS4 installation.

    Thanks for your help,

    Jim

  • Hi Jim,
