Cannot run CCS 5.2.1 installer: "no such file or directory"

Greetings

I've downloaded ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018.exe but cannot install it.

It pops out a message box "couldn't open "D:/Stuff/ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018.exe": no such file or directory"

and I cannot get past it. Note that slashes in the path are / even on Windows. This is really amazing, The exe file cannot find itself. How you guys managed to do this?

Also downloaded the offline installer, unzipped - same error message. The file is not blocked in any way.

I have CCS v4 installed, but this should not cause this issue?

My machine: WinXP SP3, English. CCS v4 installed from a DVD in Hercules eval. kit and runs fine.

Please, advise

- Saul

  • OK it appears that the setup wants to be on drive C: and to install only to default directory ( C:\ti ).

Even providing this. the setup later fails with message:

Failed to install Eclispe successfully. Please look at [very long path]/ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018_install.log

This time I'm out of ideas and have to surrender.

    2045.ccs_setup_5.2.1.00018_install.log

    THe log is attached.

  • Hi Saul,

thanks for the log.  As we look into it, could you please provide a bit further information

    - did you try redownloading in case of corruption?

    - did you unzip before installing?  Do you have any odd unzip utilities on your system?  We have seen some incompatibilities with certain unzip programs.   Most of these should have been resolved in the 5.3 beta.

    - did you check for antivirus interference?

    - was your installation interrupted in any way?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Lisa, thank you for looking at this.

     - Yes I've redownloaded (though we are in 2012.... why not to publish SHA1/2 of the files, rather than asking people re-download a gigabyte?)

    - Yes, unzipped with 7zip

    - No antiviruses besides of Security Essentials

    - On my machine Windows is instaled on D: and C: is empty disk.

I'll find another machine, as the fix to the setup is unlikely to happen soon.

    Regards,

    Saul

  • Hi Saul,

ok, please keep us informed how it goes.

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I've installed the CCS 5.2 on another XP machine and it seems to work, side by side with CCS v4.

There was only one significant roadblock: when connecting the RM48 board, it wanted to install driver for XDS560 emulator, though I've selected XDS100.

The USB device appeared in Device Manager as XDS560 and failed to start with error 10.

Someone adviced me to remove this device and manually install the FTDI driver from installation of CCS v4

(in ccsv4\common\uscif\ftdi). That seems to help. The USB connector now appears as USB serial port, and CCS v5 detects it as "XDS100v2 USB emulator_0".

I could not locate FTDI drivers installed by CCS v5 (if any).  This part of setup was not quite intuitive, but finally it seems to work with v5 in the same way as with v4.

    Thanks,

    Saul

Added: On the new machine the setup run from a flash drive (not C:);  I don't know why it refused to run from other drive on the first machine).

  • Hi Saul,

glad you managed to get things working.  We have in fact seen some issues installing/running from a flash drive unfortunately.

Thanks for the update and all the best with development.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
