Difference between installed products in CCS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Hello - I'm a relative newbie to the CCS and TI environment so I have some basic questions.  I'm working with the Concerto products and I want to build some simple projects to get acquainted with everything.  I have created a 'minimal' SYS/BIOS project through the CCS new project wizard but see that I can include the MCU_SDK package.

First, what is the difference between creating a SYS/BIOS project and the 'RTOS' in the MCU_SDK?  What else do I get if I check the box?

I could have created an MCU_SDK based project as well when I initially created the project.  What's the difference between that and this 'minimal' SYS/BIOS project?

Second, do I need the IPC package to enable the communication between the M3 and C28 on the Concerto or is this IPC package something different?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Tom

  • Hi Tom,

the first thing I would recommend is having a look at our training material and wiki pages.  There is one specifically about BIOS which also covers a lot about IPC (which assumes you have a version of BIOS running and is used for inter processor communications).  A couple of the main differences are an RTSC (BIOS) project will assume use of BIOS as also assume there will be a configuration file in the project (.cfg) for BIOS.

    Have a look here

Please let us know if that helps.  Also note that there is also a BIOS forum should you have more interest or questions specifically related to BIOS.

    Best Regards,
