XDS100v2 connectors

I am looking for a complete MCU solution to support both ARM Cortex-M3/4 and C2000.

XCDS100v2 looks to be what I am looking for, unfortunately there are several connector option: 10 pin and 20 pin for ARM, 20 pin cTI, 14 pin ....

Can anybody make clear if it's only matter of a different signal wiring? In this case is it possible to buy just one and use a custom connection to the target?

  • Hi Maurizio,

yes, you are correct.  The XDS100v2 is a very good choice for all.  You will just need a few adapters, as you seem to have also determined.

    Have a look here:

    Does this help?

  • Interesting, It let me find XDS100 design files, but I cannot understand the reason why there is no tool avaliable  that has all the connectors.

Adapters don't have electronics and have costs of the same magnitude of XDS100, I presume just to accomodate different mechanical size!

Is there any adapters schematics that show how to connect XDS100v2 to ARM or C2000 if I have the wrong one?

  • Hi Maurizio,

a couple comments.  First double check the C200 variety you intend to use is support and go through the material on this wiki.  Not every C2000 part is support, although most are.

In the reference schematic, I believe both the 10 and 20 pin (supported varieties) connections are show for you to decide from.

Please let us know if you are seeking further information.

  • HI Maurizio,

I have some further clarification for you, and my appologies if some of my posts were not entirely clear.  (I am mostly a microcontroller person)

There are actually different XDS100 parts, my appologies.  A 14 pin part, 20 pin part, and ARM part.  You are corret the price of the adapters make it much more sensible, unfortunately, to get the different versions/parts individually.

The best option for you, if you can wait for it, is to use a new emulator we have coming up in the next few months called the XDS200 which will support all the parts and will be much faster and come with all adapters.  Ie it will be a one emulator soution for you.  The only draw back is it will not allow free CCS use as the XDS100 does.

I hope this helps and sorry for any confustion.  Again, please let us know if this now answers all your questions.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Thanks a lot Lisa. XDS200 looks very attractive, unfortunatel I neet it now.

Actually I believe that the most useful one should be XDS100v2-ARM, it has all the signals I need for both C2000 (Piccolo) and ARM Cortex-M3/4.

I can setup an inexpensive adaper by myself to connect to C2000 board.

  • Hi Maurizio,

ok, glad you have manged to make your way through the information.  Sorry again if I had to clarify a couple answers.  All the best with development.
