Installing CCSv5 and BIOS MCSDK

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6678

We have received the TMS320C6678 EVM with XDS560v2 and I want to install CCSv5 and MCSDK on windows 7.

I am trying to follow the instructions and I feel a bit confused as to which directory I should install the programs in.

In http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/GSG:CCSv5_installation it says the following:

On the other hand in http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/BIOS_MCSDK_2.0_Getting_Started_Guide it says:

  • Hi Ami,

I would install in C:/ti.   You can make sure CCS finds the new tools by going to Window->Preferences->Code COmposer Studio->BUild->RTSC->PRoducts.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I followed your instructions. The CCS did actually identify the MCSDK.

Previously I  installed the CCS on Win XP and the CCS recognized the XDS560v2 however instillation with Win 7 fails:

  • Here is the displays:

  • Hi Ami,

when installing CCS, did you select the device/emulation support?   Would you be able to check whether this is being caused by antivirus interference or permissions issues?  Did you see an problems during installation?  Would you be willing to send us the contents of your installjammer registry directory (found in program files or program files(x86))?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I installed all and did not see any problem.

Trying to solve the above problem I checked for updates. updates where found and it ttyed to install CCS agin (?).

Do not seem to have installjammer on my computer.

  • I have saved the error that acurred in the 'reinstall':

    Error in action ExecuteScript

can't read "cdetailadditionaloptions(CGT_DEFAULTLIBS_C2800)": no such element in array     while executing "::InstallJammer::actions::$component $this" Error in action ExecuteScript

can't read "cdetailadditionaloptions(CGT_DEFAULTLIBS_C2800)": no such element in array     while executing "::InstallJammer::actions::$component $this"     while executing "$obj execute"     (procedure "::InstallJammer::ExecuteActions" line 69)     invoked from within "::InstallJammer::ExecuteActions $id -when $when"     (procedure "::InstallJammer::RaiseEventHandler" line 28)     invoked from within "::InstallJammer::RaiseEventHandler  .wizard"     (command bound to event)

  • Hi Ami,

are you able to check for antivirus interference?  The installjammer registry directory may be a hidden directory so please double check at those logs might be useful here.

Would you be willing to go with the v5.3 beta?  There are a few implemented fixes in the installer.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thanks... I found the directory. How can I send it?

I Don't mind doing anything that works. Therefore I prefer not to upgrade to beta..

  • Hi Ami,

you can send it zipped here or else offline using a friend/conversation request.  You will notice my avatar is also a link.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Ami,

I did notice a couple potential sources of the problem in the logs.  First of all, I would recommend a fresh installation.  I almost looks like an initial installation we interrupted.

Second, when you do a fresh install of the latest version please do two things

    - unzip the installer first

    - do not use any directories with spaces or special/accented characters.  I noticed in the one install file that there was use of "temporary internet files".

Please give this a try and keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • (The original installation was as you recommended to C:\ti).

Should I uninstall all programs before re-installing, CCSv5, Bois etc?

  • Hi Ami,

although CCS is the main one I recommend clearing out, it may not hurt to uninstall BIOS/the MCSDK and bring in everything fresh.  Please keep us informed how it goes and sorry for all the inconvenience.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thank you so much!

I uninstall/installed again CCS and Bois MCSDK and it seem like it is working.

    Tomorrow I will continue..

However when I tried to check for updates I failed. This is the message I received:

  • I solved the problem by removing to updates from the list.

    Thanks For All..

  • Hi Ami,

thanks for the update and I am happy to hear things seem to be going well now.

    All the best with development.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
