Ancient history

For many years we have been using XDS500 emulators for programming and debugging custom graphics cards based on the TMS34020. We have also used the same emulator with TMS320c30 cards. Due to age and requirements for additional program facilities I have been looking into using XDS510 MPSD emulators that we have available.

As far as I can tell, there should be no reason for the XDS510 to be incompatible with the TMS34020, am I correct?

From the systems we are currently using for both processors, it would seem that a different version of the EMU34020.EXE is needed for the XDS510, but I have so far not been able to find one. Is this also correct or is there something I have missed?

I realise that this is all very old, but we are still buying and producing the 34020 cards so any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks

  • Hi,

I found a one year old discussion about this between TIers and Spectrum Digital (the manufacturer of the current XDS510 MPSD debuggers) and unfortunately the answer is negative; their products do not support the TMS340 family of devices.

I can't tell for sure what would be the requirements to add TMS340 support for the XDS510, and I can't find anything else that has this knowledge anymore - the processor and its development tools are almost 20 years of age...

Sorry, but it seems that your current XDS500 emulators are the only capable tool to perform debugging.

    Best regards,

    Rafael
