Hello,

I am currently working on an MSP430F169 and CCS V5. I have this error when I want to run my project :

error #10269: output file "project .out" exceeds code size limit
error #10010: errors encountered during linking; "project .out" not

So I check the .map file and I have 15KB of free space left:

Then I check the CCS licence and I have a full one :

So I don t understand this error. I don't know if it comes form CCS or the MSP430 ?

Should I improve or update my licence ?

I try to Activate CCS :

but the procedure ask me Activation ID, and I do not have that.

So is it a licence problem ? and if yes how can get an unlimited licence ?

should I buy this

Hi Dimitri,

yes it appears you are on the code size limtied version. Did you purchase a license? If you did not, and wish to, the node locked license you reference is a good idea for you. Activation codes are for purchased licenses and you recieve them with purchase. So I suspect you are using the code size limited.

But I thought the code size limit was 16KB. My project use 45KB ?

Hi Dimitri,

yes the limit is 16kB so your code must be larger than this. Have a look near the middle of the .map file and I beleive you should see the summary.

Yes it said that I used 45 KB of that 60KB that the MSP430F169 offer.

It's quite a lot compare to 16KB limit no ?

Hi Dimitri,

yes your MSP is capable of much more than the free code size limit .... and your code actually goes over this limit unfortunately.

You will need to purchase a full license or find a way if at all possible to bring the code size down. The free code size limtied version is meant for tiny project or to help people give the msp and CCS a try write small pieces of code to become familiar with the hardware and software.

Thank you, but what is the point to specify a limit of 16KB and be able to implement more than 2 times that limit ?

16KB is enough for you to evaluate CCS for free and build simple applications. Larger applications will go over 16KB and will require a full license. If your final application is under 16KB then you can use the free version. It's good for evaluation and for student projects, etc.
