A quick license/update question

Since I am having problems  with my version: 4.0.2.01003, I have decide to upgrade it. Checking the wiki article about license, I would say I have a "Bundle License (Free Limited License)", I have installed the version that it is in the package I have purchased. The window in Help->License option

So, in this case, could I download the DVD image and install it without license problems or do I have  to download the code size limited version? Right now, my objectives are: minimal compatibility problems with my current projects and avoid future problems about license. If I knew the final size of my project, I would have chosen the the size limited version, but I could have to add more functionality in any moment.

EDIT: One thing I have not mentioned, I am using MSP430. I am going to upgrade to last v4. Any inconvenience? If using MSP430, and you do not look any problems, I could try to force to use v5 in the lab, although the people is not convinced.  And last question, will I have to import all my projects or will their paths be remembered?

    Here are some comments I hope help.   What emulator and targets do you plan to use?

    Non MSP430

    - in this case your licensing options are very similar in v4 and v5.  Ie purchased license or free license limited to certain hardware (eg XDS100 and some evaluation kit hardware)

    MSP430

    - in this case for v4 the code size limited version is a different installation to the normal CCS.  In v5 there is one installation which has this code size limited option

    Hi,

    I am using as debugger: MSP-FET 430UIF. My experimenter board is: MSP-EXP430F5438 with MSP430F5438A.

    I have checked in the wiki that some versions  are not compatible with MSP430 family, and I want to avoid that. If with this equipment and license that I have, you have told me that there are not problems (compatibility and license) with the last release of version 5, I will install it, although my main idea was installing the last one of v4.

    Hi,

    yes with v4 either you specifically install the code size limited version or full version with full license.   With v5 it is one installation.

    Hi,

    I am downloading the release:4.2.4, Build #4.2.4.00033. With the license that I showed in the original post, I can install it without worrying about to lose the license, can't I? It is my last question, if you give me your OK, I call to administrator to do it (for that I am doing a lot of question and verifying all, I must not call him for nothing).

    EDIT: I forget to mention that I am downloading the DVD image. Is it correct? or would I have to download the limited one, thinking on my original post. I have read the wiki but I am not be sure.

    Hi

    let me write it out for you here

    MPS430 only

    If you plan on only using the msp430 only, then you have 3 options.  You use v5 (the one download allows you to decide between full and code size limited version).  If you use v4 then you need to decide before downloading and download either the full version or the code size limited microcontroller version (which is a separate download)

    MSP (code size limited license)  and other targets

    In this case your options are the following.   You will have 2 CCS  installations in different directories, one for each license type.   Note once again in v4 the code size limited is a different download.

    MSP (Full license) and other targets.

    IN this case you simply need an installation of the full v4 or v5
