License cannot be acquired CCS and XDS100

Hi CSC team,

can you please help me with a customer request? The original question is as follow:

my CCS v5 evaluation licence has expired. I would like to switch to a FREE LICENCE (I’m using a Stellaris CORTEX-M4 EVM and on my target I will use an XDS100) . I’m able to select on the “select licence option”  page the FREE licence but when I run the debug each time I have the following message:

License cannot be acquired. your evaluation period has expired. To continue to use Code Composer Studio, you will need to obtain a new license file.

The customer then tried it with the Bundle Version, and he gets the same error. This occurs when he tries to debug. In the bottom on the left it is indicated licensed.

Do you know what it could be?

  • Hi Enzo,

Could they please try the following.  Can they try switching the license type by going to Help->Code Composer Studio Licensing Information and in the upgrade type launch the license setup.

Please keep us informed how that goes.  They should be able to switch the license type by that method.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

this has been done. Actually I gave you a wrong information. At the moment there is no emulator connected (it will be later on) but the CORTEX-M4 EVM (http://www.ti.com/tool/ek-lm4f232). Should it work with the Bundle license? in any case it should work with the Free Limited license, correct? but they had the same issue also with this license. Is there a .lic file for this board?

    Thank you again

    Kind regards, Enzo

  • Hi Enzo,

for the free license, CCS generates the file.  There is no file for that board or file they need from us.    The free limited license should work with that Stellaris EVM kit.

I need more information. Can they try removing the old license(s)?  What do they see when they launch the license setup?   Are they selected the free limited license?  (Note the code size limited is the wrong one to select as that is msp430 only)

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I'm waiting for the answer from the customer. Told him to delete all the licenses.

    Regards, Enzo
