Code Composer Studio v5.2.1 Installation Failure.

Hello,

I work for North Dakota State University's College of Engineering & Architecture Technical Support - what a mouthful! We have 100 floating licenses for this software with a license manager hosted on a local server. The software installed correctly on a test box that was running Windows XP. After working out a few bugs with the way we provision user permissions on our machines it was time to install on another computer.

The new computer is also a Windows XP. When this problem arose I tried also installing it on several other computers that were a mix of Windows 7 and XP. It starts the installation correctly, but then it shows continuous errors. Specifically "Installation Failed." This continues for quite awhile until finally it comes up with an error saying that the software was not properly installed.

Note: We have Code Composer located in a software repository that is hosted on a local server and we run the installation from the original location.

Why is this happening? None, of this happened on the test box installation and we need to have a consistent installation. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Matthew Sullivan

  • To clarify, the bug fixing I was talking about was changing the permissions on some local files after the installation is complete.

  • Hi Matthew,

could you provide a few more details on what you have tried?  How are you trying to install?  What exact errors do you see?  Have you checked antivirus interference?  Can you clarify your comment about it working from the original location?  Do you have any unusual unzip utilities installed?  Have you checked your unzip temp folder and all installation folders do not contain spaces or accented/special characters?

    Any further details would help.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hello,

Thank you for the quick reply!

    • I am doing the standalone install for Windows 32bit v5.2.1.
    • I am running the setup.exe from the hosted repository this is also what I meant by original location. Sorry!
    • I have also tried to copy the files to the desktop and run the install.
    • I have made sure that not a single antivirus process is running.
    • None of the installation folders or paths to the installation folders contain spaces or special characters. It is installing to C:\ti, the default installation path that the setup provides.
    • Code Composer is in the unzipped format in our software repository.
    • We do have 7zip installed on all computers, but I have been using the system zip program to unzip.
    • The temp folders also have no spaces or special characters.
    • The exact error I see is in the installation window. It installs the JRE and several other components just fine, but then it starts saying "Installation failed" about 200 times. Next, it configures a few things and back to saying "Installation failed". Finally, after it is allowed to run for about 45 minutes it gives the Windows error "This program appears to not have installed correctly." By this point the Code Composer installation window disappears, however, the process is still running in the background when you check the task manager.
    • I have tried the web installer and this has the same errors.
    • I have also tried downloading both the v5.3.0 installers(web/standalone) and still the same errors.
    • I am in the process of trying to instead install Code Composer as an Eclipse plugin to see if that works.

If you need another information I will try my best to provide it!

    Thank you,

  • HI Matthew,

I would stick with the full installer and try to do the installation locally and do carefully watch the unzip portion.  Can you send the contents of the installjammer registry directory from a failed install?  This is  a possibly hidden folder under program files or program files(x86).

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Matthew,

just wanted to check for any updates or further information regarding your enquiry.
