hi there,

I'm a student and trying to work on TMS570 MCU development kit. The question might seem lame but i really need an initial jack. This is supposed to be my first program 'hello world'.

For target configuration i'm using 'Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator' + board/device = TMS570LS20216SPGE. 

On debug it shows: 

"Error connecting to the target:

(Error -157 @ 0x0)
This utility failed to start-up the adapter for a
custom emulator. The adapter returned an error.
(Release 5.0.333.0)"

How can i resolve this issue please?

    Hi Arjun,

    can you provide more details?

    What CCS version?  Have you tried an unmodified example?  Have you checked drivers, antivirus interference, permissions?  Does the emulator work in other cases?  (ie with other targets, pcs, etc)

    I had this same problem with a XDS100v1 and a C66x platform.

    I had to upgrade to CCS5.2x (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS).

    Hi Lisa,

    Thanks for your quick response.

    I'm using CCS Version: 4.2.3.00004 . I'm using a basic 'Hello world Example' in order to verify the connectivity with the device. I'm using the following USB kit:

    I turned off the antivirus, ran it on administrator... still no use. May be I'm missing something. I followed the following video instruction with each time replacing C64x+ with my cortex R micro-controller. And used 'Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator'.

    What can I do in this case please? Let me know if there is some other info that i can provide.

    Is there any specific user guide for this kit? 'coz I couldn't find one.

    Hi Arjun,

    I would create a new project for your specific TMS570 device as the target.  There will be a hello world for it as well in the project creation wizard.  If you don't see your target in the list, and no matter what, you shold probably update CCS to ensure support for the new devices.

    Any information you could provide might help but I have the newest ccsv4 version and needed to specifically update/add support for those new hercules devices.

    Thank you very much. I was able to connect with the device. I used CCS v-5. The examples and step-wise guide is perfect.
