Code composer install hangs every time

I had a working CCSV5 installation, but when I tried to update it, the process hung, leaving me with a corrupted installation which always complained about errors. I tried to install v5.3 instead, but that complains about a MacAfee firewall (I only have MacAfee virus scanner). I tried to uninstall everything and start again with v5.1, but that has stalled at: "Installing idecore_setup_5.1.0.N201110281600.exe executable"

Hi Simon,

a few things I can suggest. There are known issues installing over old installations and there are known issues using a directory with a space.

My best suggestion is to clean out all installations and try a fresh 5.3 installation into a new directory. Regarding McAffee ... can you temporarily disable it?

Please let us know how this goes. But from a first quick look at the logs the above two points seems likely.

how do I fully clean out the numerous partial installations I've ended up with ? The next time I tried it stopped at ti_dvt_setup_3.1.0.2011etcetc (v5.1). MacAfee says it hasn't blocked anything so that may be a red herring...

Hi Simon,

I would simply manually delete the folders. This is what we ourselves do regularly. You can make a copy of the instlalljammer logs first, but I would clear those as well.

Then try a fresh install from the latest 5.3 full installer. Make sure to unzip first and use only directories with no spaces or accented/special characters.

OK, I deleted all the old installations and the installjammer folder but the CCSV5.1 install still hangs at the same place :( Strange as it worked fine the first time I did it! I installed to c:\ti as requested...

Hi Simon,

a couple things. I would really recommend installing 5.3 not 5.1. Also, what errors did you experience? I don't see the install log in your zip file? In the ccsv5 directory there is a numbered directory. In this there would normally be the log from the installation. Was there no log generated?

I avoided 5.3 because it complains about MacAfee, whereas 5.1 originally installed without an issue. It would appear I don't have any firewall at all, but I do have the virus checker, though it says it's not stopping anything. The log may have been absent because the install was still stuck and I hadn't killed it...

I've installed dozens of other programs with MacAfee problems...

OK, I managed the install by killing the current process whenever it stalled (3 times). Perhaps the things not installed weren't needed (so far) by my project...
