CCS v5.3

After upgrading to CCS v5.3, the IDE started up then hangs on a dialog box. The dialog box was to select licence type, but I was unable to click anything inside it. The mouse pointer when moved over the dialog box turns showing busy.

I am uninstalling CCS v5 but "Code Composer Sutdio v5 Setup" box saying " Uninstalling Code Composer Studiov5 - Cleaning up install registry..." is stuck at about 80% progress for an hour.

I have Stellaris LaunchPad and Stellaris EKS-LM4F232 Evaluation Kit both used to run alright on CCS before upgrade.

When I visited MyRegisteredSoftware, there is Enter Activation ID: field. I looked very hard everywhere for such a code but it was yet to be found.

What SHOULD I do to get myself back on track?

This is a known issue that happens on some machines (I see this also). Some fixes were made to the uninstaller to help avoid this. These fixes should be in CCSv5.4. In the meantime, you can terminate the uninstaller and simply manually delete the CCS folder.

Then I would do a fresh clean full CCSv5.3 install from the full download image.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Ki,

It is great to have your response. Now that I have cleaned the c:\ti\ccs folder and fresh installed by downloading full installer. When I load the last Ecllipse workspace, CCS is stuck. On the lower right corner I read, "Setting up indexer". On the title bar I read, "CCS Edit - TI Resource Explorer - Code Composer Studio (Not Responding)." It does not work for me. One way or the other, CCSv5.3 is causing grieve here.

A simple, quick and effective upgrade is expected but it turned out clumpsy, counterproductive to the user, a nuisance and never ending unresolved. Is there any good and direct channel to let TI know of this disasterous delivery of ccs update/upgrade?

    Regards,

  • Hi Ki,

After a few reboots, CCSv5.3 is now up and running again. Problem sorted. Once again many thanks for your response.
