CCS V5 crashes while configuring debugger

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F4132

I've installed Code Composer Studio v5 on my computer:

• Windows 7 Professional SP1;

• 4GB RAM;

• Intel Core 2 Duo E7500;

• 64bits OS.

-> I am experiencing an error when I try to debug any project on CCS. I use a MSP430F4132 and a MSP-FET430UIF and I just wrote some basic codes and yet it crashes while configuring debugger, I've tried even the example codes. I am posting an image of the error within this message, please check and if you have some answer to this I'll be grateful, we are trying to migrate the firmwares development to Code Composer Studio so we need this fixed as soon as possible.

Thanks,

  • Hi Daniel,

    the first two things that come to mind are that we have in the past seen odd behviour on non english windows when only msp430 support is installed.   Is it only msp430 device support that you installed with CCS?  Are you using the latest version?  One other thing to try here is to rerun the installer to the same directory and install C2000 and/or stellaris support.

    Would you be able to enable logging and send us any error logs/dump files generated?  These would greatly help us.

  • Hi Lisa,

    Indeed, I installed only the MSP430 Support and my Windows 7 is in Portuguese (Brazil). I'll run the installer again to install the packages you mentioned, and if yet it doesn't solve the problem, I'll post an error log.

    Thank you so much for the reply,

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

    ok, if adding the other device support has not helped (also trying a fresh workspace), please send the logs and we can go from there.  One other thing we have found to create a more stable situation is to rename ctools.dll.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Lisa,

    I selected the Stellaris support package in the custom installation and my CCS is now working fine! Thank you so much for your help!
