Hi, I'm a newbe here as well as to TI LaunchPad boards - received the MSP-EXP430G2 board couple months ago and the Stellaris EK-LM4F120LX board early January. My question is - may I use the same computer, installed with CCS (ver 5.3.00090) plus MSP430ware (ver 1.30.00.15) AND the StellarisWare package (SW-EK-LM4F120XL-9453) to play with both boards? Which license in that case should I select - the Free or the MSP430-code size limited? Would I hae any problems compiling and debuging programs on both boards (of course, not connectd simultaneously at the sane time)?
Thank you in advance

Hi,
This is discussed in several threads:

Hi Mac,
as my colleague mentioned, there have been multiple discussions on this already.
Basically a full license covers you for both sets of hardware. Otherwise you can use the free license for Stellaris and code size limited for the msp however this requires either a couple installations or else in v5 dynamic license switching via Help->Code Composer Studio Licensing Information->Upgrade Tab ... "Launch License Setup".
Best Regards,
Lisa
Thank you for a quick response. Yes, I've seen that menu option for switching over Free-MSP430 licenses, but was not sure if I could go back and forth between them easily? Are there any restrictions/limits on the numbers/frequency of switching between license modes?
Otherwise I'll consider installing two separate CCS instances, at least until I'll be ready to buy a full license...
Best regards,
Mac Ha
Hi,
No, there is no limitation in the number of times this can be switched - although in practice the constant switching may start to become annoying... (at least for me it is).
Cheers,
Rafael
