Part II of: "CCSv5 profile clock cycle count C6713"

Hi Brad,

cycle.Total should exist. I see it with my 5.3.0.00090 install. Are you using the C6713 DSK with the on-board emulation as Donald? Do you see the same events as in Donald's screenshot?

Thanks for getting back on this. Yes, using a 6713 DSK Rev D, the on-board eZdsp USB emulator, under Win 7 64-bit fully updated. CCS5.3.0.00090 has been re-installed once or twice, and is updated as of yest. Here is what I get when I do a Run -> Clock -> Setup... in the Debug perspective (?):

The menu is longer, not sure how to capture it all on this multi-monitor set-up. Any, there is no cycle.Total nor are there any CPU.* choices available. Am I screwing up somehow?

Are there any files I could send to help you figure this out?

I have an image of the clock setup menu but the forum composer is not cooperating with me on either getting it inserted or attached as a file :(

You can just hit print screen and then edit the image (in paint) to have just the relevant content. Please provide a shot of your target configuration (the connection and device you selected in the list) and the contents of the available events you can count when in the clock setup menu.

Try zipping it up and attaching the zip

Attached are better views of the debug run - clock - setup - options drop-down menu. I'm unclear what you want to see re: the target configuration.

Thanks for the screenshots. I took a look at this again on two different machines. In both cases I see the issue in my 5.2.1 install but not in 5.3.0.

For me:

5.2.1:

5.3.0

Is your 5.3.0 install a full install from scratch or did you update it from 5.2?

CCS v5.3.0.00090 is installed from scratch, via downloaded file CCS5.3.00090_win32.zip from TI 13-DEC-2012. (Presumably the "win32" moniker in the filename applies to both 32- and 64-bit Win 7?).

Yes.

Ok. I'm not sure why you still see the same issue with 5.3.0. I've checked on at least 2 different machines and see the issue resolved in 5.3.0. Do you currently have other CCS installs on your machine? Or did you install 5.3.0 over an existing older CCS install? I'm wondering if your issue is because your 5.3.0 install is picking up some old files from somewhere else.

Far as I can recall, it was a clean install. I could uninstall and try again, but I would need to know the procedures to follow (registry clean, etc.) in order to have Windows actually do a "truly clean" uninstall. Odd, I have 2 versions of sys/dsp bios installed, 5.52, and 6.34, not sure why... Thanks for helping.

A reinstall might help. To uninstall, many people just delete the whole ccs folder. CCS is fairly self contained these days, without relying on the windows registry as it used to (which is in part due to its Eclipse background).

To be safe, I'd install in a completely new directory that was never used.

This is standard. CCS comes with two version of bios, version 5.x and 6.x. If you do not plan on using one of them (or either of them), you can do a customer install and unselect the options to install them.

No joy. Performed uninstall and re-install of 5.3.0.00090, updated it, same drop-down menu content for Run - Clock - Setup... as I posted earlier. :(

You do not have any other CCS version (old or new) installed? I do not know what is going on in your environment. It still sounds like your CCSv5.3 install is picking up some old files from somewhere. Do you have any CCS paths on your system PATH?

Not sure how to check that.

I see nothing in the PATH that can cause an issue.

I even tried hooking up a C6713DSK my home PC with CCS 5.3.0 install. Again I see that the cycle.Total event being available for my environment. I am really at a loss here. Do you have another PC you can install CCS 5.3.0 and give it a try?

IAR should not interfere with you CCS installation

I installed 5.3.0.00090 on my laptop, Win 7 64-bit, up-to-date, with latest CCS updates, same results, attached to same DSK6713 and on-board emulator.

There appears to be a slight difference in the 00090 that is street-released, and the 00090 you are running, perhaps?

What file would contain the Run - Clock - Setup... menu? Could we have differing such file?

ok, so you have slightly more updated versions of those components then what I had. I then proceeded to update my versions to yours and still no dice (I still see the correct events).

I'll need to pull in some other experts.

Also, I have discovered via Control Panel that there is a program installed on both systems, "5.42.00.07 CCSv4", what is that?

The two minor issues seen (SDSCM00046425 and SDSCM00046399) have both been fixed in CCS 5.4.  However I do not know the status of the main issue of no cycle event appearing (SDSCM00046426).  I've notified the appropriate people of the thread so I'm hoping to get a reply soon.
