Hi,

I went to update my CCS5 today. All of the downloads came in and it began running. After a while it said it was done and needed to restart. Now all I get is an error message stating: CCStudio executable launcher was unable to located its companion shared library. CCS won't start and I don't know how to go back to the prior (good) version. I guess better is the enemy of good when it comes to CCS updates.

What's the story? This is costing me time and money Ti.

Hi Bob,

very sorry to hear. Would you be able to send us the installation logs. These are found in the installjammer registry directory which is a possibly hidden folder in program files or program files (x86)).

Could you also please describe the update steps you took and what your original version was (if you remember). The logs should show this as well.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I've attached 2 files that I found were created today from the C:\Program Files\InstallJammer Registry\ccsv5\60556FE5-C1A1-4061-8DF8-FFB8393BAE2D folder. Is this what you need?

A prior install log in that folder shows 5.2.0.00069. The steps I took were to use the CCS5 help->check for updates tab then downloaded and installed everything that came up. The install ran to completion then asked me to restart the applications. I clicked restart now and it went for a while, then poof. No more CCS5. (I added the poof part).

Hi Bob,

from your log files it looks like the installer was not able to find the eclipse exe. ie

C:/Program Files/Texas Instruments/ccsv5.2/ccsv5/eclipse/eclipsec.exe

Would you be able to check whether this file is actually there on your system?

Hi Lisa,

I tried downloading the 5.3 version from the wiki and installing it. It ran for quite a while then came up with a bunch of errors. I've attached a few of the error logs it generated.

Hi Bob,

the log you sent yesterday did not show anything conclusive. Odd that file is not present. When you unzipped this time, is that file there? Did you try a clean directory?

The best log to send is the installation log in the installjammer registry directory folder. It may be a hidden folder and you can find it in program files or program files (x86). Actually ziping the entire ccsv5 portion contents would help.

We are working with development here in the background and I am waiting on potenital further feedback. This should come as well as their availability before setting up a webex.

I just spoke with someone on the PIC line and told me to do an uninstall and clean install since the 5.3 upgrade is full of bugs. At this point I need to get up and running and not spend time debugging your software for you.

I looked in the C:\Program Files\InstallJammer Registry folder and there is no log file, just a bunch of other folders and a ccsv5.zip file. What am I missing? What do you mean by the entire ccsv5 portion contents?

Do think an uninstall/reinstall is the best solution at this point?

Also, will there be any problems with my license file if I uninstall?

Hi Bob,

yes, a clean install will be your best option and will not affect your license.

You can manually remove the installation folders to do an uninstall and you can clear the installjammer registry as well, but try to save a copy of the logs to still send in if you can.

I would then install from the full installer into a fresh directory. Please keep us informed how it goes.

So I ran the uninstall_ccsv5.exe. I immediately got and error message with the option to skip, so I did. Now the uninstaller is just sitting saying "preparing to uninstall". It's been that way for about 20 minutes now. Is this normal?

did you manually uninstall as directed? How is the fresh installation going. We can try a webex but I was waiting to hear from the development team re the logs and their availability as well.
