Code Composer Build Hangs at Refreshing Workspace (Blocked: The user operation is waiting for background work)

Everything was working fine last week and this week I can't build.  Very frustrating.

I searched on here and several people reported a similar problem but there are no solutions.  I am not using clearcase or anything special.  I have rebooted the PC.

This is WIndows 7 Pro, 8G of RAM.

I enabled logging and included all the files it generated today as well as a screen capture of the status screen and the versions of my components.

(only allows one file to be uploaded so I have the .log file which looks to be the most useful)

    Jonathan,

    Did anything change on your PC since last week - for eg, did you install any CCS updates or any other software that might possibly cause a conflict?

    At what point does CCS hang? Based on your information, it looks like the project build does start. So does it hand during the build?

    I know this is a pain, but would you be willing to uninstall and reinstall CCS? Something may have got corrupted in the installation but I'm not sure if that's the case or not. Also, if you're using CCS 5.2, another option would be to install a newer version of CCS v5.3 in a different directory and give that a try, if you're willing to upgrade to a newer version. If you wish to stick with a particular version of compiler tools/BIOS etc for your project, you can still update to 5.3 and set it up to use the versions that your original project was built with, so the generated binary will still be the same.

    I *just* got it working again.  I deleted 2 of the projects from the workspace and did a "clean" on the one I kept.  Now the build will complete (after a 1-2 minute delay for the first build).

    I don't know why it was hanging and I left it for hours at one point so I know it wasn't just doing something slow (and this is a fairly fast computer).

    At this point it is working again and I don't want to try to break it again.  I will be using 5.3 shortly so maybe it will all be moot.

    I came across the same issue with CCS v5.5 when attempting to debug.  In the end I deleted all of the projects from my workspace and imported again and this seemed to have fixed the problem. Overall I'm not impressed with CCS.  It seems to get hung up quite often.  Have you determined the root cause of this issue because it is still present in v5.5.
