Code Composer Studio 5.3 install

I downloaded the offline file CCS5.3.0.00090_win32.zip so I could install it.  I get an error during the install when it  is installing extras.zip that it doesn't have privelage to open extras.zip.  This zip file is supposed to be in the baserepo directory.  The extras.zip file is not included in the CCS5.3.0.00090_win32.zip.  Versions of the zip file for CCS 5.2 have extras.zip in the baserepo directory.

Why is extras.zip not where the installer is looking for it at?

Where can I get the extras.zip for CCS 5.3 installation?

  • Hi Dave,

would you please send us your install logs?  What OS are you running?  These are in the installjammer registry directory which may be hidden and which is under program files or program files(x86).

In the mean time some tips things to check:

    - antivirus interference?

    - unzip temp directory and permissions?

    - use default c:/ti

    - fully unzip before installing

    - redownload in case of corruption

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    LIsa

  • McAfee disabled, installed at d:/ti, Windows XP svc pack 3.  I think I found the problem. I had copied the unzipped files from the downloaded file to a DVD and attempted the install from the DVD.

It appears that the installer was trying to write the file extras.zip to the DVD. I went back and installed it from a network server and it worked ok. We have had trouble with the install files getting corrupted when allowing installs from the network so I wanted to see if a DVD would work better. I guess using a DVD is out of the question if the installer is going to try to write to it.

  • Hi Dave,

that sounds like it could have indeed been the issue.    Has everything gone well now then?

  • I think this is a bug in the 5.3 installation. I've filed a bug report to track this and expect it will be fixed for v5.4. Thanks for reporting this.

You could work around the issue by creating an empty file called "extras.zip" in the "baserepo" folder.

  • Thanks for the info on the work-around.  I eventually got it to work for me.  I just want to add a clarification.

In my first attempt, I created an empty file, named it “extras.zip” and put it in my “baserepo” folder.  The installer didn’t like that.

Next I created a folder called “extras” containing one empty file, and I zipped it into an “extras.zip” file and put that in my “baserepo” folder.  That worked fine.  I conclude that the installer needs “extras.zip” to be a real zip file.

  • Hi AndyW,

Has this bug been fixed for CCSv5.4?

  • Yes, fixed.

  • Hi AndyW,
