how to use CCS simulator for DSP applications

Hi.

I want to use the CCS simulator for DSP algorithms. i have the following:

1. Code Composer Studio v5.3

2. dm8148 processor.

i want to simulate certain algortihms on the 8148, using simulator,

can you please provide any information on which project to create, how to create and how to configure the simulator,

what all files i need to include to be able to use vlib api's for the same.

any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Since DM8148 is a system-on-a-chip device with multiple cores, CCS does not have a comprehensive simulator for the device itself.

As you intend to simulate DSP algorithms, the closest simulator that matches the DSP core of the DM8148 is the C674x CPU Cycle Accurate Simulator. When configuring your target configuration file, the description field for this simluator describes its features and limitations. Another references are shown below:

If instead you wanted to simulate DSP code running in the Cortex A8 core, unfortunately there is no Cortex A8 simulator available, sorry.
