Code Composer Studio v5 will not install

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, SHA-256

Hello,

I've been trying to install the latest version of Code Composer Studio (ccs_setup_5.3.0.00090.exe) for a college course I'm taking but keep getting the following error:

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv5/CCS5.3.0.00090_win32/featurerepo/binary/
An error was detected while performing the engine operation and the changes are being rolled back. See the log for details.
Installation failed.

The installer continues after a while, but then reaches the same error.

I have tried to download the offline zipped version of the program several times, but it never extracts! I even downloaded previous versions of the program
but those don't extract either. Even the online installers don't work. They advance but  fail about halfway through the installation.

I have disabled my antivirus and run the installers as administrator. I also check to make sure the directory is C:\ti.
I even tried to install CSSv5 in another account on my laptop but that doesn't work either!

I am using a Windows 7 64-bit PC.

Thank you,

Gerry

  • Hello,

After about an hour of the ccs_setup_5.3.0.00090.exe running I got a popup with the following:

An error has occurred. See the log file

    C:\ti\cssv5\eclipse\configuration\1360195011763.log

Then a "Features not installed correctly" popup prompting a look at the InstallJammer log named css_setup_5.3.0.00090_install.log

The installer then exits. I have attached both log files.

    Thanks again!

  • Hi Gerry,

ok, thanks for the logs.  We will get back to you as soon as there is feedback.   what do you mean by the installer did not unzip?   what behaviour did you see ...

Also, can you confirm no junctions are being used.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your quick response. After my last post, I tried another download of the CSSv5 offline zip file (CCS5.3.0.00090_win32.zip) and
it still didn't unzip. I get an "invalid file" error despite me trying to extract the file to C:\

The file is about 1.32 GB.

If by junctions you mean that my C directory links to another one, then no there are no junctions. I have tried to install or extract everything directly on
my C directory. I even moved the zip file to the C directory and tried to extract from there (just in case) to no avail.

All of my CSS offline zip downloads just don't extract, even the previous versions (eg CCS5.1.1.00031_win32.zip).

    Thank you,

    Gerry

  • Hi Gerry,

odd, if you tried redownloading it should not be corruption.

Have you tried moving the zip file into c:/ as well?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hello Lisa,

Pretty strange right? I moved the file to c:\ but I still get the same error. I also downloaded 7-zip and tried extraction with that but it also failed.
I tried downloading the files before at different times during day  but its all the same.  I do know that some of my lab mates have been unable
    to install CSS5 as well.

    Thanks again,

    Gerry

  • Gerry

Since you have downloaded the zip file for 5.3 (more than once!) and also have , the first thing I wanted to check is whether the zip file is complete. Using the file->calculate checksum option in 7zip, here is what I get for the 5.3 zip file. Does this match your results?

My suspicion is something on your PC is blocking access to certain files during installation. I know you have disabled your AV program, but I was wondering which company's AV you are using and whether you have any other anti adware or anti spyware software installed?

  • Hello Andy,

Thanks for the reply. For some reason the checksum with 7-zip doesn't work (even though I'm the admin). I did use two other utilites and got the following results:

    SHA-256:   84ce72f084de15e67975103f4293d6e944be2be6166e46b2456dcd2e05cb0be8

    MD5: 146a3d57127ba23bf8c2e4e17da0462b

    CRC32: 533299f0

The file size is: 1427883507 B

It seems the file size is LESS than what you have, so the checksums don't match. This could be why the file doesn't extract, but I have no idea what is causing the loss. The only AV I have is Bitdefender Total Security 2013. My laptop is new so I haven't installed any other AV.

I am using cable internet and downloading the file over wireless. Maybe that is the cause of the loss? I will try to redownload the file over ethernet and see if that helps (or if I get a different file size!).

    Thank you!

  • Andy and Lisa,

I redownloaded the file over Ethernet and that worked! I verified the checksum of the file and they match your results. I was able to successfully extract (and install)
    the program.

It makes sense that there would be packet loss over WIFI,  although I didn't really expect that to happen when downloading files (especially after paying so much for internet service).

I might presume that potential file size loss could be a cause of installation issues for laptop users or those downloading through a wireless network.

Your assistance was greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

    Regards,

    Gerry

  • Hi Gerry,

very happy to hear you are installed and good to get going.  It also surprises me WiFI would cause a problem.  I know I have certainly had success installing over  wireless router.

    All the best with development.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • I seem to have this problem.  I can neither install, nor uninstall.  How does one completely purge CCS from a Windows 7 computer?
