Hi Hisham,
you would only be able to do the upgrade for free with an active subscription.
Having said that you may be able to use CCSv5 with a type of free license depending on the hardware you use. For example CCSv5 is free to use with the XDS100 emulator. There is also a 90 day trial you can do if you are not using an xds100.
This wiki has further information.

Does this help clarify?
Best regards,

Hi Hisham,
you are only entitled to updates with a paid subscription. You can check the status at

Hi Hisham,
perhaps the best would be for you to contact the license team
they will both help you with subscription status and activation id. I suspect you will have to purchase a v5 license but two notes
- CCS is free to use with the xds100 emulator
- there is a 90 day demo so you can try v5 first.
I recommend the latest version which is v5.3
