Missing devices/family

Good morning.

I recently installed CCS 5.3, but when creating a new project there are no devices for me to choose from. I'm new to all this, so I'm not sure what I did wrong. I've attached a screenshot of what I'm talking about.

What do I have to do at this point?

Thanks,

Alfie

  • Hi Alfie,

what OS are you using?   One thing to check would be antivirus or permissions issues.  Also, I would not recommend being installed in the program files directory.  Is this something that changed or have you seen the blank drop down since installation?

Do you have anything selected in device variant?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I'm using Windows 7. When I did the installation, I put everything in the C:\ti folder, and didn't attach the plugins to an existing Eclipse install, so it looks like it made a new Eclipse install in c:\t1\ccsv5\eclipse. I also made sure to disable the AntiVirus system before installing.

This is a new installation. There was an error during installation, but right after that the installer said it had been successfully installed, so I figured the error must've been minor. The log file with the error showed this:

java.lang.RuntimeException: Application "com.ti.common.core.initialize" could not be found in the registry.

But when I ran CCS there was no option to create a CCS project. I updated everything through the Check for Updates option, but still no CCS project option. Then I ran the installer again, and after that the option appeared.

    Did the installation fail?

    Thanks,

    Alfie

  • Hi Alfie,

yes it is possible something went wrong with the install.  Would you be able to send us the installation logs?  These are in the installjammer registry directory which is  a folder (possibly hidden) under program files or program files(x86).

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I attached a zip of that directory.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hi Alfie,

are you using juctions/virutal path or server?  If so this is the issue.  I see in your logs a // server type reference, but also a reference in C:.

This is the likely cause of your problems.  I would recommend installing and unzipping locally.  Ie do all in C:/myccs  or similar.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • OK, I see what happened.

The Windows 7 instance is a VMware Fusion virtual machine running on a Mac. I had extracted the contents of CCS5.3.0.00090_win32.zip to the desktop, which was actually a shared desktop with the Mac side. It appears on the Windows desktop, but isn't actually local.

I just installed it off a pen drive local to the Windows side, and it appears to be working fine now.

    Thanks for your help!

    Alfie

  • Hi Alfie,

no problem at all.  thanks for the update and very happy to hear you are up and running.

    All the best with development.
