CBNZ Instruction doesn't compile with version 4.9.7 Assembler

Hello Support,

I am attaching a ZIP file. Please unzip and run cbnz_bug_assembler.bat file [assuming the compiler path is correct for your PC, else change accordingly].

You will see that the cl470.exe is unable to compile the cbnz_bug.asm file.

Please help.

Don't use .state16 for Cortex-R4; instead use .thumb, as below:

        .text
        
        .thumb

CBNZ_Bug_Test:

           CBNZ  A1, STC_SELF_TEST

           MOV    A1, #1
           
           B      SKIP
           
STC_SELF_TEST:

           MOV    A1, #0

SKIP:           
	   BX lr	   

          .end

For Cortex-R4, when should I use .state16 and when should I use .thumb for 16-Bit code?

If I understand these directives correctly, for Cortex you should never use .state16; always use .thumb for thumb mode
