CCS 5.3.0 & MSP430ware_1_40_00_24

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Will this combination work in a system with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit?  CCS 5 seems to be OK, but creating an example project with MSP430ware hangs CCS.

  • Hi Tom,

can you please let us know what your installation history is here?  Ie how did you install ccs v5.3?   How did you install mspWare and into which directory?  can you also please double check for any interference/issues that might be caused by antivirus or permissions.

You may be the second person experience this odd behaviour I don't see on my installation so I am going to do what I can to try reproducing this as time allows for an independant installation.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • I downloaded and used the offline installer, CCS3.0.00090_win32.zip which is supposed to include the latest MSP430ware.  It doesn't.  Thinking that may have been the issue I followed the instructions to update the MSP430ware.  That did nothing to help.  Then I tried downloading the freestanding MSP430ware, that gave me the "This software may not have installed correctly" screen.  I repeated the offline installer after deleting the entire TI directory.  Same results.  System info:  Gateway DX4860, Intel Core I5-2320 @ 3ghz, 8 gb ram., Windows 7 Home premium, SP1.

  • Hi Tom,

does it hang on any example and at what point?

I just added that version of mspware to my ccsv5.3 on win 7 64 bit and see no issues.  CCS did not seem to like adding it as an update, however the independent installation was found by ccs automatically and I have no issues using it.

Can you please provide any further details as I am unable to reproduce this.   It is unfortunately possible to have a corrupted installation.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Open TI Resource explorer, navigate to a chip family, select an example, select the chip from the drop-down menu and it says "creating project" but never moves beyond that point, task manager process table shows no activity by CCS.

  • Hi Tom,

I also tried this method now a couple more times and on my installation ccs does not hang.   Do you get any error messages?  Would you be willing to try a fresh installation?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • OK, I'm game.  I will uninstall ccs, then delete the c:\TI directory, download  CCS offline installer and run it.  Then download MSP430ware and install that.  OK?  Probably happen Monday, I'm out for the weekend.

  • Hi Tom,

ok, please try and keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    lisa

  • On the install, I usually select "custom" setup and only select MSP430 tools, then on the next screen I select "grace, includes MSP430ware", should I select "MSP430ware only"? or both that one and grace?

  • Hi Tom,

    please select both.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • I have two other eclipse based development systems installed and I'm going to have to assume they are interfering with one another.  At any rate, other than being able to generate projects for the samples, CCS works just fine so I'll leave it be.

  • Hi Tom,

    ok, thanks for updating.

    All the best with development.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
