CCS unknown error + invalid key binding (5.3 on win 8)

Hi there,

Im using CCS v5.3.0.00090  on windows 8. I only recently reinstalled after a previous install was found to be corrupted.

Initilly everything seemed to be running fine but over the last few days the workspace error log keeps reporting some unknown error. It usually occurs some time after I build or save, though not always.

I have attached the exported error log that shows the two errors that occur. As can be seen it is mostly a eclipse core unknown error, but there is the very occasional (only once in this dump) set of invalid key binding errors (Ln 177 -202)

I appreciate that CCS is still unsupported on win 8, but thought this may be a known error or at the very least help with any efforts to make it supported...

  • Hi Toby,

how reproducable is this for you?  Can you send a screen capture and a few more details on the steps you took/exactly when/how this comes up?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

Im afraid I have no idea even what keys I might be pushing etc to cause this.

I wouldnt have noticed it at all except that I have the error log window added to my workspace and minimized and it pops up and grabs focus (subverting whatever Im typing into the search box) whenever these new errrors are logged

Sometimes it seems to happen when Im not even touching the PC!

As it appears so randomly I have no way of reproducing it Im afraid. The only thing I can think of is that it might be maybe one of the windows 8 touch gestures that windows expects to have relevance for current applications and so passes it to them, but actually doesnt have any relevance for CCS...

  • Hi Toby,

are you experiencing any issues blocking you from using CCS?  Neither of these are serious or should be stopping you from properly being able to use CCS.

We can see at least the keybinding here and it is something coming from stock eclipse. The second type of exceptions is triggered by one of our components, but it does not impact the product.  Neither of those two errors is OS specific. It happens on any OS.

  • Hi Lisa

No this is not (so far as I can tell) affecting CCS usage for me.

If thats from stock eclips I may do some more googling myself in relation to that.

    Thanks

  • Hi Toby,

ok, thanks for sending the log and glad to hear you are able to work with CCS.

    All the best with development.

  • Hi Lisa

I have been able to reproduce one of the errors quite reliably.

I have any code in code composer and use a tap on the mouse pad to place the cursor in text that is a variable, argument or function name

The UI highlights the name (and any other occurences of the same name) with either grey or orange then a tooltip appears with info about that variable, argument, function etc.

Between the text being highlighted and the tooltip being displayed, the error occurs.

  • Hi Toby,

yes, thanks for the feedback.  We are able to reproduce it here.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
