Lost my license -- again!!

I reloaded CCSv5.3. I have a license file located at a location in the path designated - actually several locations.

"The license file you are using is only valid under Code Composer Studio 4. To continue using CCS5, please update your license file. ... "

This is my license file name:TMDSCCS-ALLF01-v5.lic.

What else needs to be done?

Thanks for any help,

Pat

  • Hi Pat,

it seems CCS is finding a v4 license.  How did you update your v4 license?   One thing you could also do is rename (so that you don't have to loose/delete) any v4 license or license reference on your system.   Did you restart the vendor daemon and license server?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • You were right. Even tho I did reload all the Flexnet tools, I ended up renaming the V4 license and now it appears to accept the license.

    Thanks, Lori

  • Hi Pat,

very happy to hear, all the best with development and thanks for the update.

  • Lisa,

I was looking in the wrong place. Now the license statement is in the lower left corner and I was expecting it on the top header. I still am not licensed.  I have renewed my license. I have tried reinstalling the license server.

Running lmtools.exe and checking server status, I get:

Status -------- Flexible License Manager status on Tue 3/26/2013 14:12

[Detecting lmgrd processes...] License server status: 27000@pharris-PC     License file(s) on pharris-PC: licenses\tidspssw\TMDSCCS-ALLF01-v5.lic:

pharris-PC: license server UP (MASTER) v11.10

    Vendor daemon status (on pharris-PC):

But when I check the license information, it tells me that "The desired vendor daemon is down"

So, what do I do now?

    Thanks,

    Pat

  • Hi Pat,

I would need details on your setup.   Did you restart the damon when changing to the v5 license?  Aside from the new file, did anything change in your setup and am I correct in assuming the v4 license was working fine.  It is only since the upgrade?

Have you gone into windows and stopped and restarted the license services?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Lisa,

My problem may have to do with the fact that I am moving my development from a WinXP machine to a Win7 machine and I suspect the problem is that I haven't rehosted as yet. My dilemma is that until I am certain that everything will run on the Win7, I hesitate to transfer the license. Will CCSv5.3 run properly on a WinXP?

    Pat

  • Hi Pat

1 - your license must be tied to the servers MAC address.  If you changed the server pc/mac you need to rehost otherwise you can not continue using the license

2- CCSv5 is officially supported (as on our site) under win xp

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Okay, I will try to get 5.3 running on XP and then see if the new PLC firmware will run, then transfer everything to 7 and cross my fingers.

    Thanks,

    Pat
