Importing Project into CCSv5

Hi,

I have a multi-part question about workspaces and projects:

  1. When I want to open a project that has been sent to me, must I always import it?  Or can I just open it?  I've tried, but there doesn't seem to be a means of opening an existing project that wasn't created on my PC.  I used to do this all the time with the old (pre CCSv4) versions of Code compoaser.
  2. Assuming that I must first import a project into CC, if I uncheck the "copy files to workspace" checkbox, where does the project actually reside?

  • Hi Robert,

    I hope this helps clarify.

It is unfortunate, but yes, since the move to eclipse projects must be imported and imported as ccs projects.  Project->import exsiting ccs/eclipse project.  If these are v3.3 projects the it is project->import legacy ccsv3.3 project

If you select "copy files to workspace" the files will be in the following place

    workspace folder/project folder/ your files

Please keep us informed if you have further questions.

  • Lisa,

Thanks for responding so quickly, but you actually answered the opposite of my question.  What happens if I do not select "copy files to workspace" when I import a project?  Where does the project reside?

  • Hi Robert,

sorry about that.   If you don't copy it, it remains where it was essentially.

    Hope this helps!

    Lisa
