Why does CCS start ringing the bell on the PC?

My project is using CCS 5.3 to generate code for the DSP on the DA830/L-137. I use IPC v1.0.5.60, SysBios 6.21.0.13 and XDIAS 6.25.1.08. My compiler is 6.1.13.

Occasionally something happening in the DSP causes CCS to start ringing the bell in my PC. That is, it triggers the bell sound. I've heard it both with CCS4 and CCS5. It's got to be trying to tell me something. What can it be? My code is writing to the RTA logs. Is it possible for something there to ring the bell?

To be honest, I've never heard of such an issue. I assume you get some chime from your sound card. Do you not see any kind of warning/error or some popup dialog when this happens?

No, I have not been able to notice any other indication. I'm working on TI's PA audio code. Other users have reported the same thing going back to CCS 3.x. The suggested solution is "turn down the audio". Can you ask around to find some way to debug this? Suggest which logs I should check?

Do you (and others) just experience this when writing to RTA logs? Or have to had this happen in other cases?

I have converted my project to stop using RTDX as it is deprecated. We'll see if that solves the problem.
