Updates from CCS 5.2 to 5.3 finish to fault

Good afternoon,

I tried to update code composer 5.2.1.00018 to 5.3.0.00090 together to other proposed updates (Spectrum,TI,Blackhawk emulators) C2000,C6000 compilers, msp430 ... The updates have been downloaded succesfully,it asked me to restart computer and after that during installation of msp430 -probably latest version of compiler il faulted because of some file missing. Instalattion stopped and when I reenter CCS I got this error.

After that project build also gave me error.See bellow:

I could send to you log files.Please tell me which one and where to find them. What do you suggest: To uninstall CCS5 and install then CCS 5.3 directly. What to do with drivers,uninstall them too?. I've CCS on Windows 7 64-bits

  • Hi Miro,

    I have good and bad news for you.  The good news is I am pretty sure what happened was in issue updating from the older version.  Namely some eclipse updates got brought in that are incompatible with ccs.   The bad news is the only solution is a fresh installation of v5.3 into a new simple directory.

    Please keep us informed how the fresh install goes.

     I am trying to download off-line installer for windows for CCS 5.3 on page http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS but I'm waiting for a link in both IE and Firefox getting at the end:

  • When I press a link on http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS to download ccs5.3 it brings me to my.TI.Account page and when I press Login button Browser is waiting for focus-webapps,ti.com.... And after time-out time I got error:

    Gateway Timeout

    I got same answer in Firefox 19.0.2 and IE8

    I tried yesterday from several computers in Croatia  with same result as described before. Today from Italy I tried to do the same from computers of my colleagues and from  different TI Accounts always with same result. What to do with old version 5.2 where now uninstall doesn't work?. Delete directories under TI|\ccs5 keeping only license file?  Please do something because today after genuine update of CCS 5.2 yesterday I have no SW  tools to do my work.

    I am going to see if I can get permission to send you an ftp link for the download, however I don't know if that will work as I suspect your proxy settings are the issue and they may also block that download.  I am still going to see what I can do, but I really recommend checking your proxy settings.

    Finally I downloaded CCS5.3. The problem was that in addition to Login I had to compile TI form but the message to do this wasn't displayed in explorer because of automatic cookie handling setting. When I ovveride this I got the message and I downloaded CCS5.3. So now first thing to do before I start with installation is to uninstall CCS5.2. As I told you before uninstall  breaks with error so it seems that the only thing I could do is to delete everything in CCS5 and keep only the license there. Do you agree or you have some other suggestion?

    great glad to hear.  Yes there are know problems at times getting a clean uninstall.  I would recommend manually deleting/removing the 5.2 installation and installing v5.3 fresh into a clean directory.  Licensing remains the same.
