Update issue

Please help me solve this installation error.

Thanks

Nigel

  • Hi Nigel,

Could you please zip up and attach the contents of the logs folder?

Logs can be found in c:\program files\installjammer registry\ccsv5 (or program files (x86) if you're using 64 bit windows).

Also, what version of CCS did you have installed, prior to the update?

    What were you updating?

    Thanks

    Danish Innis

  • Hi Nigel,

I don't see any message, could you repost, please?

    thanks

    Danish

  • 6607.InstallJammer Registry.zip

The original installation was CCS 5.2.

  • From your install logs it looks like you had started a CCS 5.3.0 update and aborted it by cancelling out. That left the install in a bad state and all the subsequent attempts to update blackhawk have failed.

We could try and recover the state, but it would be much easier for you to re-install. We now have CCS 5.4.0 beta released.

Let me know if you'd like to try and recover your 5.2 installation.

  • I was running CCS5.2 on a win7 64-bit machine.

I decided to upgrade to latest version (CC5.3, new compiler, ...) from within CCS. Everything was going OK until the installation SW wanted to restart CCS. It closed CCS and when it tried to open CCS again there was an error and the installation was aborted.

After that, I cannot start  CCS, there is a script error all the time. When I try to uninstall CCS I get a script error as shown in prev post.

What should I do to make CCS runnable again?

  • Nigel,

You can safely delete everything from the installation folder if the uninstall isn't working.

  • Hi Roine,

Could you please zip up the contents of c:\program files (x86)\installjammer registry\ccsv5? Please note, the installjammer registry folder is hidden and you may need to unhide it from explorer. We'll try and get you up and running as soon as possible.

If you've uninstalled part of the installation, you can delete the rest (there's no going back) and install 5.3 or 5.4 beta.

  • Hi Danish

the file is attached here 1663.InstallJammer Registry.zip

Do you mean I should delete all of c:\Projects\DevTools\TI\ccsv5 (This is the folder where I had CCS v5.2 installed)?

I will leave for today, will give it a try tomorrow, unless you have some other ideas.

    Roine

  • Thanks for the quick response.

Just a quick question, did you try to uninstall? If so, you would have to do a re-install unfortunately. Yes, you can safely remove everything from the c:\projects\devtools\ti\ccsv5 directory.

If you didn't try to uninstall, I'll take a look at the logs and try and tell you how to fix your problem.

  • Hi,

yes I have tried to uninstall. When I do that I almost immediatly gets a script error according to what Nigel posted April 22 04:25. When I press OK to continue, It only says preparing to unistall... (without any selectable option yet - next is greyed out). But it never leaves this state...

    Roine

  • Hi Roine,

As I said, if you've already tried to uninstall, you'll have to remove the files in the folder completely, and try installing afresh. We've got 5.4 beta released right now, and it gives a lot more information in case of failures.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.
