Question on data address tracer

It is expected to gather read address and write address by trace pro,

  1. I can get nothing about read/write address if I not ticked “Stall CPU to prevent data loss".
  2. If I tick it, I can get read/write address, but it introduces a CPU load problem that cpu load increases notably.

My questions are, why need “Stall CPU to prevent data loss” here, and how it impact our test result?

  • Hi,

Sorry about the delay in the reply. Stalling the CPU while running Trace will have some impact in real-time execution (slightly slower execution), although it guarantees the data integrity.

However, from the screenshot it seems the tool you are using is somewhat old. What exactly is the CCS version and the target hardware? Over the years Trace functionality improved a lot, and I can perform core trace without this function turned on several C6000 cores (lately I have been using C6474, C6457 and C6678 devices).

    Regards,

    Rafael
