Can I use a floating license on a stand-alone computer?

Can I use a floating license as a node-locked license? We have a computer that cannot be connected to the network and a "surplus" floating license we would like to use.  Can we install and use the floating license on the computer without installing the license server?

  • Hi Lois,

    a couple comments

    - you do not need an internet connection for a node locked license.  You simply need an ethernet card with a MAC address to tie the license to.  If you do not have an ethernet card/MAC address, please let me know and I will pass this along appropriately.

    - a floating license requires a server.

Please keep us informed if this helps clarify.

  • Thank you for your response.  I'm not sure I understand.  I have a floating license.  If I want to use this license on a stand-alone computer, I still need to install the license server on the stand-alone computer?

  • Hi Lois,

yes, if you have a floating license you need

1 - access to the current server

2 - install the server on the new computer and rehost the license to that new MAC address.  You can typically change MAC addresses once using

    www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware

otherwise the license team at ccs_subscriptions@list.ti.com will need to help you and will need your myti email and activation id.

    Does this help?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
